Raisin Crisps

    1/2 cp seedless raisins
    1/2 cp shortening
    1/4 cp water
    3/4 cp sifted enriched all-purpose flour
    1/2 tsp baking soda
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/4 tsp cinnamon
    1/4 tsp nutmeg
    1 1/2 cps quick-cooking rolled oats
    1 cp brown sugar
    1/2 cp chopped nuts
    1 tsp vanilla

    Instructions

    1 - Heat raisins and shortening with water until shortening is melted.
    2 - Cool, then sift flour, baking soda, salt and spices into a bowl.
    3 - Stir in the rolled oats, sugar, and nuts.
    4 - Add raisin-shortening mixture and vanilla.
    5 - Mix thoroughly, the drop by teaspoonfuls on a greased baking sheet.
    6 - Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes
