Mexican Dinner

    2 large onions, sliced
    2 green peppers, diced
    3 tbsp shortening
    1 lb hamburger
    1 cp. chopped celery
    2 cps. canned tomatoes
    1/2 cp uncooked rice
    1 tsp chili powder
    1 1/2 tsp salt
    1/4 tsp black pepper

    Instructions

    1 - Cook onions and green peppers slowly in the shortening until the onions are light brown.
    2 - Add hamburger and fry until the mixture falls apart.
    3 - Add the remaining ingredients and mix well.
    4 - Cover and cook very slowly until tender - about 45 minutes.
    Recipe amount - serves 5
