1 lb ground beef
1/2 lb ground pork
1/2 lb ground veal
1 tbswp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 cp soft bread crumbs
1/4 cp shortening
1/2 cp finely minced onion
1/2 cp finely minced celery
1/2 cp tomato soup
1 - Have the butcher grind the meat twice.
2 - Brown onion and celery in the shortening.
3 - Add tomato sauce nd then beat egg into the mixture.
4 - Add bread crumbs, sasonings to the meat, then add onion mixture.
5 - Work well with the hands until the ingredients are well blended.
6 - Pack in greased bread pan or whape into a loaf.
7 - Arrange strips of bacon over loaf and bake.
8 - Start with a cold oven set at 375 degrees and bake for 1 1/2 hours.
Recipe amount - serves 5-6.
