2 tbsp shortening
1 small onion, sliced
3 tbsp all-purpose enriched flour
1 cp stock or water
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1 - Saute' onion in the hot shortening.
2 - Blend in the flour.
3 - Stir until brown.
4 - Add stock or water slowly, stirring constantly.
5 - Add seasonings and cook until thickened and smooth.
6 - A few drops of Worcestershire sauce may be added
7 - Cook 3 minutes.
