Quick Whole Wheat Tea Ring
1 cp whole wheat four (stirred)
1 cp sifted all-purpose enriched flour
4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
3 tbsp sugar
1/3 cp shortening
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/2 cp milk (approximately)
2 tbsp soft butter or fortified margerine
2 tbsp sugar mixed with: 1/4 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 cp raisins
and 1/4 cp chopped nut meats
1 - Mix dry ingredients well in a large bowl, cut in
shortening until fine.
2 - Break egg into measuring cup and beat lightly with a fork.
3 - Add enough milk to egg to measure 3/4 cp.
4 - Add liquid to, dry ingredients and mix.
5 - Put on a thoroughly floured board and knead lightly.
6 - Roll in rectangular shape about 1/4 inch thick.
7 - Spread the butter or margerine on the dough.
8 - Sprinkle the sugar and cinnamon mixture and the raisins
and nuts over, then roll across the narrow way.
9 - Roll onto a greased cookie sheet and form into a ring,
sealing the cut ends together.
10 - With scissors, cut into the ring (about 1 inch apart) and
turn cut sides up, forming a Swedish tea ring. 11 - Bake for 30 minutes in preheated 400 degree oven.
