1 - Pour boiling water over rolled oats, cover and let stand until lukewarm.
2 - Add the 1/2 cp of lukewarm water to the sugar and yeast and stir and let soften.
3 - Combine softened yeast and oats, add 2 cps flour.
4 - Beat well, let rise in warm place until light.
5 - When light and bubbly,add salt, molasses, and melted, not hot, shortening.
6 - Thicken with flour enough to make firm dough, knead until smooth and elastic.
7 - Let rise in warm place until doubled.
8 - Divide and make into loaves. Place in greased pans until doubled.
9 - Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 1 hour.
Makes 3 1 3/4 lb loaves.
