Casserole of Sausage, Sweet Potato, and Apple
1 lb country style sausage
6 small apples
1/4 cp water
2 tbsp brown sugar
2 tbsp shortening
6 small sweet potatoes, OR 3 large potatoes, halved
1/2 tsp salt
1 - Make 6 patties from sausage and brown in skillet on large surface unit.
2 - Core apples, not cutting through skin on stem end.
3 - Do not peel. Fill center of apples with brown sugar and shortening.
4 - Place apples and sweet potatoes over top of browned sausage.
5 - Add water and salt.
6 - Cover. Bring to a boil on high heat and then simmer for 25 minutes.
