3 1/2 tbsp drippings, butter, or fortified margerine.

1 tsp sugar
1 - Peel tomatoes and cut them in slices one-fourth inch thick.
2 - Place a layer of tomatoes in a casserole and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
3 - Rub fat into the crumbs with the sugar.
4 - Spread the mixture thickly upon the tomatoes.
5 - Add another layer of tomatoes.
6 - Add bits of butter and sprinkle with dry crumbs.
7 - Bake at 375 degrees about 25 minutes.
