Steamed Brown Bread
1 cp sifted all-purpose enriched flour
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 cp whole wheat flour
1 cp yellow corn meal
3/4 cp baking molasses
2 cps buttermilk or sour milk
1 1/2 cps seedless rasins
1 - Add whole wheat flour, corn meal, and rasins to other sifted dry ingredients.
2 - Combine buttermilk or sour milk and molasses.
3 - Fill 3 well greased No. 2 cans 2/3 full.
4 - Cover with waxed paper and tie firm with a string.
5 - Steam in deep well cooker or large kettle in which 2 cps of hot water have been placed.
6 - Cook on high heat until boiling and then turn to low heat.
Steam 3 1/2 hours.
