Spiced Green Beans

2 qts green beans
3 cps white or cider vinegar
1/2 cp (packed) brown sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp white pepper
1/2 tso whole allspice
1 (two-inch) stick cinnamon, broken
1/2 tbsp whole cloves
1 - Wash beans.
2 - Remove any strings and tips.
3 - Leave beans whole.
4 - FCook in boiling salted water, 1 tsp salt to 1 qt water, until teender, 20 to 30 mijnutes.
5 - Drain and pack into hot sterile glass jars.
6 - Combimne remaining ingredients ijn agate or enamel kettle; heat to boilijng; pour over beans.
7 - Seal.
8 - Let stand several weeks before using.
Makes about 4 pints.
