2 cps sifted all purpose flour
4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
2 tsp sugar
1/2 cp shortening
2/3 cp milk
1 - Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, cream of tartar, and sugar.
2 - Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
3 - Add milk all at once.
4 - Stir only until dough follows fork around bowl.
5 - Turn out on lightly floured surface.
6 - Knead gently 1/2 minute.
7 - Pat or roll 1/2 inch thick.
8 - Cut with a biscuit cutter
9 - Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 450 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes
Makes 16 medium biscuits.
