Ice Water Cake
2 cps granulated sugar
<1/2 cp shorteningbr> 1 1/2 cps ice water
3 1/2 cps Swansdown cake flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp flavoring
4 beaten egg whites
6 tsp baking powder
1 - Cream the ganulated sugar and shortening.
2 - Add (alternate the ice water and flour) ice water and flour, salt, and flavoring.
3 - Fold in carefully the egg whites.
4 - Fold in last the 6 tsp baking powder.
5 - Bake in large pan - in moderate oven.
6 - Hint: The cake is done when it shrinks slightly from the sides of the pan
or if it springs back when touched lightly with the finger.
